An anthology film built around adaptations of short stories from Barker and King sounds god damn amazing, but unfortunately the two stories chosen here prove to come across incredibly silly in their film adaptations.
First up we have to address Christopher Lloyd in the stories bookends, as a sort of Crypt Keeper. Horror heavyweights Clive Barker and Stephen King join forces to make the stupidest movie I've ever seen.
The hands' episode is the worst "thing" I've ever seen. Not that the other one's any better. But I at least like King's story.
Turns out this fool is a collector of strange objects and is also a strange storyteller. Throughout the film, he finds two people and tells them each one story.
The first is about a traveling salesman, a psychotic hitchhiker, and a chattering teeth toy. Crazy shit goes down with all three involved.
The second story is about a surgeon who's hands somehow get a mind of their own and become suicidal. Not only that, they awaken all other hands and start a hand revolution!
Plus, you have Christopher Lloyd in unexplained bondage gear, telling mildly spoopy stories. Ignore poor ratings, this is amazing. As of this point, Darabont has directed 5 Stephen King stories and Garris 7.
Now one can argue that the films that Frank Darabont directed are better written stories by King, than the films, made for TV and Mini-series ones directed by Mick Garris, and budget also plays a part.
But there is no denying that when it comes to Stephen King adaptations, the output by these two directors are worlds apart. Quicksilver Highway is another run-of-the-mill Stephen King and Clive Barker adapted story that is easily forgotten about.
What is with Christopher Lloyd's character anyway? He looks like Fairuza Balk in The Craft. Two shorts, one written by Stephen King and the other by Clive Barker.
Never read the stories, so I don't know how they come off on page, but the filmed result is probably not what was intended.

There's nothing scary in the slightest about these two tales from Clive Barker and Stephen King. This is God awful TV horror at its worst.
A two story anthology narrated by Christopher Lloyd as a middle aged goth weirdo. Chattery Teeth is by Stephen King is a decent adaptation. The Body Politic revolves around a talented cosmetic surgeon played by Matt Frewer whose hands take on a life of their own and begin plotting their escape from his body.
Silly doesn't even begin to describe this story, which has evidently been inspired by the mutinous-hand bit from Evil Dead 2. This is despite an impressively broad, go-for-broke performance from Frewer, who's clearly having a lot of fun playing a guy at war with his hands.
But really, The Body Politic becomes more and more ridiculous as it progresses, culminating in a sequence involving dozens of disembodied appendages pursuing Frewer and his remaining hand which, they are convinced, is the messiah.
