Later, during a battle in World War I , Timothy remembers a vision of a bombing and avoids being killed. Many years later, the elderly Timothy is seen attending a Remembrance Day service, which is also attended by the Doctor and Martha.

Are you serious? That's neither here nor there, I guess. I suppose I should start out by saying that, genuinely, I was surprised to find out that this was a vampire movie at all.
When I saw the trailers a while ago, I don't think they made any mention of that at all. I mean as far as I remember, they may have done so and I just didn't notice.
I just thought that this movie would be more a mysterious stranger forcing his way into this family and manipulating Ellie against her children.
And there's definitely some of that here, of course. But when I saw Christopher's fangs early on in the movie, I thought he was just a regular dude believing that he's a vampire.
But, nope, he's an actual vampire. I was definitely very pleasantly surprised about that. Having said that, I'll just be upfront with you guys, as I always am of course, but this movie was just no good in the slightest.
We'll definitely get to it, but the third act was, quite frankly, horrifyingly bad. Just horrible. Anyway, the film tells the story of Ellie, a pill addict, trying to start over in a new place and a new job with her teen son and daughter.
Her son is a troubled teen, acting out at school, as a result of the experiences he's gone through with his mother, he's not trustful of her and, it seems, that every time she makes a commitment to stay sober for any length of time, she falls off the wagon.
She goes to these addicts' anonymous meetings, I'm assuming. One night, after a run, she comes across one of the guys from her meeting, who offers her pills.
She takes these pills and, for one reason or another, Christopher the vampire kills the guy who gave her the pills and turns Ellie into a vampire.
I have literally no idea why he did this. Maybe the idea was that these pills were gonna make Ellie overdose and die. But there was no indication that she was about to overdose at any moment.
She was just stumbling around, tripped and hit her head on her car door. That's about it and Christopher just chose to turn her.
Maybe he saw a weak woman he could manipulate, but I don't know where he got that from. I suppose that's neither here nor there.
This is when the movie switches to be about Ellie's transformation and her growing bloodthirst. Kyle, upon seeing his mother's strange behavior, believes she's taking pills again and he's had about enough of it.
This is where the film's issues start to make themselves apparent. Firstly, it's a movie about addiction and replacing one addiction with another.
Then it's about Ellie's transformation and her resisting the urges she has. Later, it switches to Kyle and his reaction towards everything that's going on as Christopher, at his mother's behest, stays in their house to help her with the transition.
Christopher being, honestly, kind of an annoying dick and trying to take over Ellie's life. Not to mention the family dynamic with Kyle, listening to his girlfriend's advice, sticking with his mother through thick and thin.
I don't know what this movie wants to be, literally, at any point whatsoever. There's no narrative focus, it's just what the movie wants to be at any given time.
If they want it to be about Ellie's transformation, then Ellie will take all the focus and her children will barely be seen.
But if they want it to be about Kyle and his dedication to the family after, originally, not wanting to deal with his mother's issues, then I'll be about that.
Or if they want it to be about Kyle's 'feud' with Christopher and Kyle trying to find a way to successfully kill Christopher, then fuck all else.
Everything in this movie happens in a vacuum. Nothing else matters when they're heading down one path at that particular point in time.
That path is no longer useful, they move on to another one as if the one they had just gotten off didn't even exist. It's a really poorly structured and constructed movie.

Here she leads as a former drug addict turned vampire and the affect it has on her and her two children. I can't help but feel like the whole movie was one big metaphor for addiction.
There is a problem though and it's a big one. It's SO lifeless, the characters simply aren't likeable and honestly until the last few minutes nothing happens.
On top of that I see people claiming this is a new spin on the tired vampire formula, my question is how?
How is this a new spin? This has been done before, the whole thing is devoid of originality. Not one for fans of vampire cinema or for that matter cinema period.
The Good I liked the story line. I liked the slow and steady pace. I really enjoy movies with those qualities. I also love that it's not a volume roller coaster.
You know, louder than hell and then suddenly the actors are whispering and then loud again and back and forth. I hate riding the volume buttons on my remote as I'm watching a movie.
What I didn't like is how dark it was. I love a dark themed movie but I can't stand when I can't see everything on the screen. I know that may not make sense to a lot of people but there's a difference between a dark movie and a poorly lit movie.

Only complaint is that despite the slow process, character development was kind of a miss, as well as certain aspects of the movie where they had a chance to totally invent itself since it was a pretty original idea.
Instead they fell back on tired ideas. When it comes to casting not to bad pretty good fits except for a role that really wasn't too important.
Ajiino Alexus did a fine job but doesn't pass for a high school kid, which falls on the casting director. If you have time give it a watch.
This movie wasn't bad at all. Was it slow paced? But it was a decent movie as long as you don't go in expecting a hollywood blockbuster loaded with CGI and special effects.

She has just recovered the custody of her teenage son Kyle Colin Ford and daughter Amy Eloise Lushina and moved to a new city with a job got by a professor friend of her.
However her second chance in life is affected by her addiction and Ellie uses pills again in a lonely park during the night. But her new acquaintance in the group Christopher James Ransone is indeed a vampire and he decides to turn Ellie into one to save her from the drugs.
Soon Kyle and Amy see the change of behavior of their mother while Ellie discovers that she is a vampire. What will happen to Ellie and her children?
The beginning of the screenplay is a complete mess and the characters are not well developed. The gore conclusion is terrible. My vote is four.

So far, Blumhouse Films has done no wrong in my eyes. You can pretty much cover your eyes, point your finger to any one of their titles, and still come up a winner.
Yes, it's a vampire story. And, yes, there were variations to that mythos on display here. But that couldn't make up for the fact that the movie was a long, slow-burning chore with characters you don't really care about.
This is one of the most terrible movies i have ever seen in my life, poor story telling in a very slow tempo. Really don't waste your time, you have been warned!
I loved the premise and unique spin to a vampire movie but it jumped all over the place and was just made poorly. I hope someone tried the idea again with better directing.

We then get to observe her dark descent. Elle is unable to hold down food, even when she tries to take pills she immediately regurgitates them.
Desperate she roams the night and eventually kills and exsanguinates a cat, later moving on to the pet's owner. These vampires don't fear crucifixes or garlic and prove rather hard to kill.
They ask if they can come in, but they're just being sarcastically polite, they don't need an invitation. Some convincing acting by Shaw, Ford and Alexus, good vampire attack scenes but the pace is uneven.
Too much dreariness between the action sequences, at times I felt it was like Angela's Ashes - with Vampires. On Netflix.
