I wasn't looking for anything heavy or life-changing - if you are, this isn't the movie for you. It kept my interest and I enjoyed the way the story moved along.

Sure, the cast played essentially the same roles they always play - Diane Keaton is dingy, John Goodman is solid and steady, Alan Arkin is quirky and wise, Ed Helms is dorky, Marisa Tomei is complicated and sassy, and Amanda Seyfried is a dim but sweet bulb - but who cares?

I liked it and would watch it again. Not anything like your "average" or even really "goofy" holiday flick. This one has enough quirkiness, levity and some cringe moments here and there, to be surprisingly intriguing.

Found it predictable and not particularly interesting. Ok as a Sunday afternoon watch but had we sat down to watch this on Christmas Eve for example would have found it deeply disappointing.

I kept getting bored and wandering off while it was on. It doesn't seem to be representative of any genre apart from Christmas, its not particularly comedic, thrilling, heartwarming or gripping.

Most of the characters were unlikeable and void of any charm or charisma. Although it featured many good actors the plot and writing was poor and tired on every occasion.

It was all totally cliched which you might expect from a Christmas film but unfortunately this lacked any of the lovely nostalgia you normally find along with the cliches.

If this wasn't based on Christmas it could have been retitled 'Meh'. Lots of better Christmas options available which are good standalone films.

There is humour but not laugh out loud humour, The price was very cheap and therefore a good purchase. A not-so rose tinted view of the world at Christmas time but at the same time still making you feel Christmassy!

Clever film with humour and thought provoking content. Will be watching this again in future Christmas holidays. The unique characters and the depth of emotions, mostly love, are incredible. Maybe people want quick cuts and action and just don't know how to let a movie based on dialogue slowly draw them in and make you care about the characters, all of which are rounded and easily lovable,yet each deeply flawed in ways anyone that has lived a few decades will identify with.

I am a tough guy in my 50s and I shed tears three times. Not only that,but several times I had to pause the film so I could ponder how the wise words about love and life relate to my life and mistakes.

From this day on my life will be better because of what i realized was true,as displayed in this movie, about family, love, regrets.

And I will forever love Olivia Wilde. Her scenes alone are worth watching this movie. If you can watch this movie closely and not shed a tear, you are dead inside and should immediately seek psychiatric help.
