All in all, it was a pretty entertaining reimagining of the legendary tale, one which even convinced the Powers That Be to move ahead with a direct sequel — that is, until said sequel lost any sense of momentum, and was sentenced to life in development hell.
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday is the ninth entry in the Friday the 13th franchise, and has remained something of a bastard stepchild in an already shaky series.
Following the news that a film Blu-ray set containing every movie in the saga is on the way, Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus was tagged in a post about it and asked if the version of his film included in the set would be the uncut one.
His response was enthusiastically in the affirmative. With new features and awesomeness! Bloody Disgusting has the scoop here, reporting that several people involved with the franchise have been hinting at this new collection.
A brand new Friday the 13th Blu-ray box set is in the works and looks to be coming our way this summer. Unlike what other options horror fans have out there right now, this is a comprehensive set that will include every single entry in the franchise, in addition to new bonus features being put together specifically for this set.
Not only that, but it looks like we will be the first time Jason Goes to Hell in its unrated form will be available on Blu-ray. While the set hasn't been formally announced by the studio or a distributor, several of those involved have let the cat out of the bag.
First off, Vincent Guastaferro , who played Deputy Rick Cologne in 's Jason Lives, revealed that he has recorded a new commentary track for the movie, which will be part of the box set.
Guastaferro had this to say in a post on Facebook. The hills are alive with the sounds of murder. Gold, greed and wrath surface in the deadly beach town of Kill Devil Hills.
Jason remains a fan favorite for pitting two iconic horror characters together in a battle for supremacy, albeit with an open-ended conclusion.
Jason are keen to develop a sequel. In particular, Shannon and Swift were asked about an alternate ending to their screenplay where Pinhead from Hellraiser stepped in to the fight between Freddy and Jason.
