All I can say is this is just a great movie. Love it watch over and over. I have watched this movie several times, Both main actors are my fav.

And Rene Russo - she is producing as well as acting so was obviously involved in casting these two together.

Pacino plays the intense complex character he has always specialised in and McConaughey plays the intense character he specialises in.

He is younger, taller and more beautiful and also has the beauty of youth. They both play intelligent characters and manage to manipulate each other in a fascinating way.

It was the interplay between these two actors both of who I respect highly than the actual story that interested. Yes, and the film does evolve particularly MaConaughey's character.

I wish his name was easier to spell. And I like the ending which I will not reveal for those who have not yet seen it. Watchable but I can't believe this film came out just a few years ago.

How a fear of the "other" during this anxious period, so easily manifest itself as hate. Now, what I just described above, is fodder for a great film.

Unfortunately, Friedkin's final product "Cruising", isn't that great film. It often forgoes the dark and compelling for the shocking and exploitative.
